Welcome to the Science Book Blog! We are excited to present these books to you and are REALLY excited to hear what you have to say about them.
There are 14 titles from which to choose (listed below). Each book group will have it's own blog. You'll be reading between three and five chapters each week, depending upon how much other homework you have. In addition, you'll log onto your book's blog and discuss the story with your group. A group captain will be chosen each week; each member of the group will be a captain at least once. The captain is responsible for writing a post with the discussion question or questions for the week and keeping track of who comments on the posts. Captains are required to post on each chapter, and every student is required to comment at least once on each chapter. But where blogging gets interesting is when you read what each other is writing and then grow the discussion based on what you are discussing and learning together.
Mrs. Dixon, Mrs. Conforto, Mrs. Deisley and Miss Knott will each choose a book group to join. We will be members of the group only, not moderators...that's the captain's job. The whole project is worth a quiz grade, to be given at the end of the book.

Basically, you can write however long or short a blog post (captain) or comment (others) that you want, as long as you actually say something shows you are reading and thinking about what you are reading--and you are learning from each others conversation (see Good column above). It should be clear that you read the book, paid attentions to the details, and, hopefully enjoyed reading about some really interesting stuff!
